Credit9 is growing and has an opening for a career minded individual to join the underwriting team. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals with previous junior underwriting, credit analysis, or loan processing experience looking to grow their career in loan underwriting. The junior underwriter position works closely with the processing teams to evaluate loan applications and issue credit decisions.


Responsibilities:

  • Become a subject matter expert in unsecured lending programs, rates, and guidelines
  • Provide underwriting support to loan processors to ensure applications are submitted correctly and in accordance with all lending requirements
  • Assist in answering loan applicant questions to resolve challenges preventing a loan decision
  • Thoroughly review and analyze applications to determine if applicants are credit worthy
  • Apply program guidelines in the loan application review process to issue a credit decision
  • Request additional documentation when needed to support a loan decision
  • Review numerous types of income documentation including but not limited to pay stubs, W-2’s, and tax returns to accurately calculate loan applicants’ qualifying income
  • Escalate loan decision recommendations when further evaluation is required
  • Review credit liabilities to determine monthly liability so an accurate debt-to-income ratio can be calculated
  • Ability to handle escalation calls and emails


Requirements:

  • 2+ years of experience with a personal loan lender is preferred, but not required
  • Experience evaluating credit reports, calculating income, and debt-to-income ratios
  • Ability to problem solve and propose alternate loan terms
  • Detail oriented with the ability to concisely communicate relevant information
  • Ability to grow and develop working relationships with a large team

  • Ability to solve problems while maintaining a positive attitude
  • A genuine desire to help others succeed and achieve their goals
  • Ability to retain information and exercise sound judgement consistently

  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment


Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, but not required

Salary:
$26.00 - $30.00 per hour
