Description of Job

WORK UNIT
The Colorado Bureau of Investigation's (CBI) Victim Assistance Unit provides comprehensive support for victims of Identity Theft, fraud and related cyber-crimes. This includes full time staff and an after-hours hotline that is a resource for crime victims to call and get immediate support and guidance.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position will answer phones/hotline after regular business hours, on weekends and holidays to ensure victims of ID theft, fraud and cyber-crimes receive timely services. The Hotline advocate will triage the situation and offer immediate assistance and referrals to the Full Time Victim Assistance staff for follow up. In cases of emergencies, the Hotline Advocate will contact the Full Time Victim Advocate on call, and request immediate assistance

Documentation of calls and any responses within established system in a timely manner. Complete tracking forms, maintain monthly log of callers and any demographics provided, provide monthly report that includes all tracking forms and demographics. If notifying full time staff of immediate needs for follow-up, document what interactions have taken place, and why the referral is being made. If requested by supervisor, make follow up calls to previous hotline callers to provide additional resources or assistance.

When assigned, the Hotline Advocate will attend Victim Assistance Team meetings, either in person or virtually. Hotline Advocate will participate in at least one CBI sponsored event per year

WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • Remote, after hours, weekends and holidays
  • You will be provided a state issued phone for this purpose

Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights

This position is open to Colorado residents with experience

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Three years of experience as technical support for victim assistance.
OR
Appropriate education will substitute for the required experience on a year for year basis.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Three to five years of Victim Advocate experience

  • Experience as a victim advocate with ID theft/fraud.
  • Previous State Service related to the work assigned to the position.


CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
  • Requires successful completion of a background investigation that includes a polygraph exam, a fingerprint based criminal history search and a drug test.
