Job Summary


**Hybrid environment with the ability to telework**

The Securities Unit is responsible for the state’s oversight functions relating to securities offerings including timeshares, franchises, unit investment trusts, and mutual funds. This position will review various securities applications that are filed with the Department and provide regulatory oversight on such offerings. The incumbent must review and analyze new applications, renewals and amendment materials based on numerous Minnesota Statutes and approve or deny applications. This position will foster strong working relationships with internal stakeholders, national affiliates and other states’ analysts to help maintain impactful protections for investors.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, Business Administration, Economics, Finance or related field AND 1 year professional experience analyzing data or applications or similar work

OR

2 years professional experience analyzing data or applications or similar work

OR

An equivalent combination of education and/or experience

Applicants who meet the above education and/or experience requirements must also meet the following to be considered:

  • Ability to read, comprehend/understand and apply registration laws and regulations
  • Skills in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word and Excel
  • Communication skills sufficient to interact effectively with supervisory staff, co-workers, and the public
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time, adapt to change, and collect and enter data
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
  • Critical thinking skills and judgement

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge in securities, financial and investment principles as evidenced by academic coursework or related experience
  • Experience with compliance, operations or sales within the Securities Industry
  • Private securities market experience which includes; franchises, time shares/subdivided land, crowdfunding, mutual funds and other securities offerings

Physical Requirements

Requires occasionally lifting such articles as file boxes and lifting and frequently carrying light objects such as files and laptop computers.
